A 20-year-old man from Ipswich has been given a suspended sentence after admitting to making and distributing indecent images of children.
He was sentenced to 12 months’ imprisonment, suspended for 18 months, ordered to complete 120 hours of unpaid work and was made subject of a Sexual Harm Prevention Order for 10 years.
Ahmadzai was arrested after police received intelligence to suggest he had uploaded indecent images of children to the internet.
He was arrested at his home address on 14 January 2025 and following a search of his property, Ahmadzai’s mobile phone and other electronic devices were seized for forensic examination.
From these, the following indecent images and videos were identified:
There was also evidence that Ahmadzai had shared some of this material via WhatsApp.
In addition to his sentence, Ahmadzai was also given a trail monitoring requirement for six months and ordered to sign the Sex Offenders Register for 10 years.
An order was enforced for the destruction of Ahmadzai’s mobile phone.
Detective Sergeant Mark Cotton from the Suffolk Internet Child Abuse Investigation Team, said: “Offences relating to indecent images are not victimless crimes; every image depicts sexual abuse against a real child.
“Whilst this investigation has not resulted in a custodial sentence, the public can be assured that Ahmadzai has been handed strict restrictions specifically designed to prevent further offending.
“In addition to having his movements tracked continuously by GPS, Ahmadzai is prohibited from accessing the internet without storing the search history, from deleting any search history and from possessing any device capable of storing digital images unless it is made available for examination by police.
“The conditions imposed upon Ahmadzai mean that he will continue to be monitored for the next 10 years.
“Suffolk Constabulary remains committed to protecting children from harm and we continue to work in partnership with the National Crime Agency to proactively identify and prosecute those who upload indecent images of children and communicate with children online.
